L’Acadèmia del Cinema Català inicia un important projecte d’internacionalització amb les primeres Jornades Catalan Movies & Awards in Hollywood (Jornades V.O. Catalana i Premis a Hollywood) els dies 3 i 4 de novembre. Les Jornades consisteixen en la presentació de 11 pel·lícules en versió original catalana estrenades enguany i en un acte de reconeixement a algunes personalitats catalanes amb una trajectòria professional i vinculació a Hollywood.
L’ iniciativa, pionera en aquest àmbit, té com a principals objectius: promocionar a nivell internacional el cinema en català en la seva versió original, prestigiar als professionals catalans amb presència a Hollywood, impulsar la seva carrera professional a nivell internacional i motivar la creació d’obres més universals enfocades a un mercat global. Aquesta actuació reafirma que les pel·lícules en versió original catalana poden tenir un tractament universal igual que en qualsevol altre versió.
No obstant, la principal finalitat d’aquesta missió és crear una base de diàleg amb l’Acadèmia de Hollywood pel reconeixement de l’Acadèmia catalana, que porti com a conseqüència a mig termini la participació d’una pel·lícula en V.O. catalana als Oscar. “El diàleg amb l’Acadèmia de Hollywood serà més fluït si coneixen de prop el nostre cinema” assegura Lluís Valentí, director del projecte.
El criteri de l’Acadèmia del Cinema Català per seleccionar les pel·lícules participants en les Jornades ha estat que pertanyin al 2009, que siguin VO catalana, que hi hagi voluntat del productor de participar en les Jornades i que tant el productor com el director del film siguin membres de l’Acadèmia.
Segons el president de l’Acadèmia del Cinema Català, Joel Joan, “aquest projecte posa de manifest la voluntat de la nostra entitat de promoure i recolzar el cinema català i als nostres acadèmics; volem ser quants més membres millor, a fi de tenir tota la força necessària per aconseguir tot allò que ens proposem.”
